" Never thought I'd do a review of a speaker less than 2.5 inches diameter and 2 inches tall. However, the One Micro exceeded my expectations and merited a relatively serious review……. REVIEW OF THE ONE MICRO: The OneMicro is unusually small and yet is the first portable speaker that I believe I can travel with. I've listened to it for about 20 hours and it has increasingly surprised me as I listened because I am discovering unexpected strengths. This is unusual as I normally find increasing weaknesses as I listen to a system. While nothing this small can compare to a full blown audio system, I find that I can listen to it for 8 hours in a stretch and not feel much fatigue. That is probably the highest praise I can give for something this small. To discover its strengths, SET UP is KEY. I will discuss that later in my review. Note that the speakers were broken in for 20 hours before I actually listened to them for my tests. Here are the strengths I found: 1. Natural sounding - leading to low fatigue. This is my highest praise for something this tiny. When set up properly, vocals are done very nicely. It is a small driver trying to do a lot so it does not rival a full sized setup - but it is the best I've found for small speakers by a fair margin. Again, when SET UP PROPERLY. 2. Good resolution & fast transients. I can hear the subtle timbre of the acoustic instruments more than any other small bluetooth systems. The small neodymium drivers moves quickly. These qualities are obvious enough that I treated them as serious speakers and worked with maximizing their potential. Each step of the way, I was rewarded with tangible improvements - demonstrating that these are decent speakers. 3. Relatively loud and can sound very large in scale if a piece does not demand bass below 80hz to be realistic. Enough to be satisfying in a 12x13 feet room. This is not however, going to rock a room. But at reasonable volumes, it is satisfying. 4. Stereo. This is HUGE. A drive this small has excellent dispersion and I find a fantastic amount of 'air' and stereo imaging along with depth. Again, when set up properly, it gives the sense of scale that other single unit bluetooth speaker can only dream of. (But to get maximum impact requires proper setup as noted below.) On some pieces, I can get incredible sense of space and 'air' including female vocals. I've tried this in different environment and usually place it about 5 to 8 feet away from me and LOVE the sense of SPACE this provides. 4. Battery life - I played them relatively loudly - more towards the limit of their ability before obvious distortion and my battery charge lasted 13 to 14 hours!! I am incredulous about this. The internal battery must be quite small and yet the battery life at the louder end of things went for a day and a half of listening! Goodness gracious. 5. Set up properly, and if a piece does not need high decibels below 80hz (bass) to be enjoyable, I can actually listen to them all day such as in a hotel room. They are remarkably realistic even if they are not like my full blown audio system. 6. The setup is beyond easy. Plug in the supplied dongle to a USB port, turn on both speakers and you are connected. Also, the execution after linking is superb: - Each speaker announces whether it is left or right channel at turn on. - Each speaker is linked to the other so that if you change volume or setting on one (i.e. natural, warm, clarity), it changes the other one. When you turn one off, the other one turns off also. Although to turn on, both needs to be turned on individually as they are not linked once off. - Changing setting is easy, once the protocol is learned. 7. I am not sure how much of its audio advantage comes from the DECT technology over bluetooth but I know that it does not hurt. But the simplicity and reliability is just wonderful. I really like it. 8. Tiny. Did I mention it is tiny? Easy to travel with. 9. Charge with traditional USB cable so I can just plug into my laptop USB port to charge. 10. DECT technology works well. (I wonder how the OneClassic must sound.) 11. Love the peaceful green color. It stands out without screaming, 'Look at me!' …………….. Bravo OneAudio. Kenneth, you and your team did well. :) "
